NORTH FORT WORTH ALLIANCE MEETING - SATURDAY 1/21
The next meeting (Saturday, 1/21/12) of the North Fort Worth Alliance will be at 9:00 AM at the Fellowship of the Parks church on the second floor. We will try to keep the meeting to an hour and a half. Dress is very casual, coffee and donuts are provided.
We will be having a presentation by Mark Presswood of the DAC (Development Advisory Committee, after a brief presentation by the new ER facility on North Tarrant Parkway. Our aim is to understand the challenges developers face, and try to build partnerships to work throughout mutual challenges in a manner favorable to both the developers and the residents of our area. Obviously, we both participate in issues that affect Fort Worth such as Impact Fees, Gas Drilling, Air Quality, Tarrant Regional Transportation Coalition and the TRV.
For years, the word "developer" has been a "dirty" word in residential circles such as as ours. There has been a perception among many residents that everything bad that has happened, or more accurately, didn't happen, was the developers' fault. The DAC (and the NFWA members that have been involved in the DAC) would like to address this perception; it is apparent that the developers and the NFWA actually have a lot in common, as both groups are trying to improve this part of the city. In the past, the NFWA and the DAC have actually taken similar positions on issues that affect far North Fort Worth and have written letters to communicate this joint support.
We believe that the members of the NFWA would like to hear exactly what the DAC is, what type of organizations are represented, and also the frustration, if you will, that these members feel concerning the impact that DAC has (or doesn't have, more likely) when dealing with the City.
