"Go GREEN" Summer Project - Rain Barrel |
|
Rain Barrels are a great way of harvesting rain water for landscaping needs. Natural rainwater is the best for plants and it will also help you save money on water bill.
http://www.lowescreativeideas.com/idea-library/videos/Rain_Barrels_0408.aspx.
Some pointers:
· You don’t necessarily need to buy the barrels. You can use any sturdy barrels you can get. Just make sure they haven’t been used to storing any harmful chemicals though.
· You can used a gutter extension to route the water from the gutter to the rain barrel, so make sure you add this to your list as well.
· Instead of a ball socket assembly, you may use a 3/4th inch Hose Bibb Valve which you’ll find at Home Depot. Lowes probably doesn’t carry them.
· It does not take more than a couple of hours to finish this project, if you have everything you need.
· Make a list of things you will need before you go to the store, this will save you multiple trips later.

Roof Repair Update: 6/29/09
We are aware that there are several homes that were damaged by the recent hail storms and just wanted to remind all owners of a few important stipulations when making your roof repairs to make sure all modifications are in accordance with your governing documents.
Please refer to section 4.1 of your declarations that states the following:
“(iv) the shingles for the roof of each residence shall be composed of 240 pund standard dimensional asphalt shingle with weather wood coloration.”
The ACC Committee has approved one other type of shingle and it is a Storm Master Slate- Lifetime Shingle- in the weathered slate coloration. This is most likely the different type of shingle you have noticed around the neighborhood. The ACC Committee and Board of Directors both feel that this is an upgraded shingle that adds value to the homes in Crawford Farms.
Any variances to the above stipulations must receive approval from the ACC Committee. ACC Request forms can be found on the website.
Another reminder is that contractor signs are not allowed at Crawford Farms per section 4.14 of your declarations so please remove any that are being displayed in your front yard. We have had to send o ut over 150 violation letters and that is an expense using the association funds that can be prevented.
We appriciate all of your cooporation and understand the urgency of these repairs. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact feel free to contact me.
Thank you,

Zip Code Change Update
We have received the letter from the Post Office that our new zip code is 76244. There was also am article in the May 28th Star Telegram. The new zip code goes into effect on July 1, 2009. Our mail will continue to be distributed by the existing Keller Post Office that supports us today. One item missing from the letter and the newspaper article is that we have the option to use Keller or Fort Worth as the city. Donnie Lawrence of the Keller Post Office says that our mail we be delivered based on the zip code not the city. So we have the option to use Keller or Fort Worth, even though we live in Fort Worth.

Bulk Trash Pickup Notice!
Fort Worth
residents must follow city rules for setting out garbage, recyclables, yard
trimmings, brush and bulky items for pickup. Rules are designed to keep the city
looking clean, prevent litter and allow workers to do their jobs without
injuring themselves or damaging your property.
Residents who don’t follow the rules may receive a courtesy notice, a notice
of violation or a citation.
Fort Worth residents must follow city rules for setting out garbage,
recyclables, yard trimmings, brush and bulky items for pickup. Rules are
designed to keep the city looking clean, prevent litter and allow
workers to do their jobs without injuring themselves or damaging your
property.
Residents who don't follow the rules may receive a courtesy notice, a
notice of violation or a citation.
~Courtesy Notice~
A courtesy notice is a flier or brochure containing general information
about the city's trash program or a planned service change. City
employees, the city's contractor Waste Management or neighborhood
volunteers may give courtesy notices, which carry no penalty. Courtesy
notices are meant to make residents aware of the rules and provide
information.
~Notice of Violation~
A notice of violation is a warning that something is wrong and needs to
be corrected. City code enforcement officers issue the red notices of
violation to identify problems and give residents a period of
time-usually 24 or 48 hours-to correct them.
Examples of violations include placing garbage bags outside or on top of
the brown garbage cart, putting garbage or other non-recyclables in the
blue recycling cart, failing to remove carts from the curb on time,
storing carts where they can be seen from the street in front of the
home or placing bulky items on the curb outside of your designated
bulky pickup week.
~Citation~
Residents who do not take action to correct violations will receive a
citation, or ticket. A misdemeanor citation can carry up to a $2,000
fine per violation per day. A citation is pink and is delivered in
person or by certified mail. Instructions on the back indicate residents
must either pay the fine or appear in court within 11 days of the
citation date.
Generally, residents would receive a notice of violation before
receiving a citation. However, for gross violations, code officers may
issue a citation immediately.
~Garbage Bag Sticker~
Code officers place a bright orange sticker on each garbage bag left
outside or on top of the brown garbage cart. The sticker indicates that
a garbage bag outside the garbage cart is in violation of city
ordinance, your water account has been charged $10 for collection and
disposal of the excess bag, and provides instructions for pickup of the
bag on your next garbage day.
Garbage bags are not allowed outside the cart except on certain
holidays. To view garbage holidays visit http://www.fortworthgov.org/dem/new_garbage_holidays.htm and when residents use special, pre-paid bags known as Pay Bags.
For additional information on Pay Bags visit http://www.fortworthgov.org/dem/news110104b.htm
Residents who follow the rules for setting out their trash have nothing
to worry about. If you have questions about the rules or any other
trash-related issue, call 817-392-EASY (3279) or visit Environmental
Management's web site at http://www.fortworthgov.org/dem/index.htm
