A Request from Mrs. Martin's Class: A lesson about Safety

Recently I was approached by the HOA President and our Property Manager with a request from Mrs. Martin. She is a volunteer for a safety program for kids. While helping one of her students, Nicholas, do research for a writing assignment he found a great online article about being neighborly and brought it in for her to take a look.

Mrs. Martin sent an email to Richard Gatewood, our HOA president, and all the way from Ireland he forwarded the information to our Property Manager who then forwarded it to me with a request to post on our website. I immediately thought, “What a great post for the blog!”

Mrs. Martin was inspired by this article and encouraged her kids to share the information. The original email states, “I suggested that both he and the rest of the kids share this with you because it had such great information about being neighborly which also leads to keeping our communities safer! We have a lot of fun each day when the kids come in and share the pages they found about their subjects, and while most of the pages are usually amateurish, every once in a while one of the kids brings in something very interesting :) This page really stood out to us and we learned a lot from it!
Would you please add a link to it to your web page for them, even if it is just for a little while? I want to impress upon the kids that they can accomplish things if they aren't afraid to come out of their shells and simply ask! I also don't think it hurt that I promised the group a pizza day if you'd add it! Please let me know if you’d be willing to help so I can share the exciting news with them!”

I am delighted to be a part of helping these kids know the power of speaking up and finding ways to get information on something they feel strongly about out to the public. (Plus I hope they get pizza, haha.)

Please take a moment to read over this article and enjoy!
